It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, brother, friend and companion. Laurie W. MacDonald of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia passed away on December 26, 2012, at his home. He was of Catholic faith and very devoted to his church. Laurie was born in Yarmouth on June 12, 1944, and was the eldest son of William and Muriel (Smith) MacDonald. Laurie was predeceased by his parents and his two special loves; his eldest daughter Jennifer Jo and Margie, his beautiful wife of more than 38 years. Laurie is survived by his daughter Jody (Jonathan) Kini, son Shaun (Bethany) MacDonald, brother Danny (Nancy) MacDonald. He was a proud Grampie to his grandchildren Katherine, Ella, Carly, Quinn and Ava who brought him so much joy. He also leaves behind his loving companion, Jayne Saunders (Lawrence) and his Uncle and Aunt, William and Barbara Singer, as well as many nieces and nephews. Laurie spent his entire life working and living in Yarmouth raising his family. He had a long and highly-respected career in the independent adjusting field as an insurance adjuster, which began in 1963. Laurie owned his own business, Fundy Adjustment Bureau, and most recently, while semi-retired, had been employed part-time with Marsh Adjustment Limited. He was a long serving and respected member of the Society of Chartered Insurance Professionals. He was immensely passionate and committed to both his work and family. Laurie had served as a member of the school board and was involved in minor baseball, where he had the opportunity to coach his son. Laurie was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish throughout his life. Most warm weather weekends, Laurie could be found bass fishing with his brother in a never ending competition of who caught the most or the best fish. In recent years, Laurie found great happiness spending his summers at the cottage. Laurie will be sadly missed by his 10:00 a.m. coffee club buddies.
