Ronald Gaudet

GAUDET, RONALD - 1927 - 2012 - Ronald Gaudet, 85, of Moncton passed away on December 29, 2012 at Pro Tem Health Services. Born on March 31, 1927 in Beaumont NB he was the son of the late Aime and Domethilde (LeBlanc) Gaudet. He was a member of St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church and also was a member of Pine Needles Golf Club for many years. Ronnie was retired from Atlantic Lotto Corporation and prior to that was employed with Central Trust for over 20 years. Sports were a major part of his life. He was a senior hockey star on many different teams in the the Maritime Senior Hockey League until the age of 47. He won the senior league scoring title in 1955-56 while playing for the Miramichi Beavers. Ronnie continued to play old-timers hockey until the age of 75. He was inducted into the Moncton Wall of Fame on 4 occasions as an athlete and builder (coach). He coached many teams, highlighted by the 1960-61 Junior Moncton Beavers Team who made it to the Eastern Canadian semi-finals in the Maple Leaf Gardens, and the 1975 Moncton Bears Senior hockey team that won the National Hardy Cup Championship. He took great pleasure and pride in his grandchildren's sports and was often seen at their games. He continued his involvement in hockey by coaching his grandsons' teams. Ronnie had a great personality and always had a big smile and a firm handshake for everyone he met. He also had a passion for golf and he and Inez enjoyed golfing together in their retirement years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Inez (MacAleese); two daughters: Karen Rinzler (James) and Paula Gaudet (Jeff Burns), both of Moncton; two sons: Kevin (Robin Niderost) of Germany, and Ron Jr. of Moncton; two sisters: Bernise Hachey (Larry) of Moncton and Claudette Gaudet of Montreal; one brother, Oscar (Peggy) of Moncton; six grandchildren: Andrew, Jason, Megan, Matthew, Michelle and Ryan; one great-grandchild, Leela as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Donalda.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858 -1900) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. In memory of Ronald, a contribution to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
