We are sad to announce the sudden passing of our Father, Grandfather, Brother, on December 29, 2012 after a brief illness. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Lloyd was born in Birch Hills, SK to Clarence and Evelyn Olson on April 29, 1931. The family resided in Weldon until moving to Prince Albert in 1940. Lloyd worked for Eatons over 40 years starting in Prince Albert and later working in the Moose Jaw store, until it closed, and then the Saskatoon Warehouse where he retired in the early 1990’s.Through his career he made many lifelong friendships with staff and customers. In 1956 he married Joan Eccleston had two children Brenda and Greg. Dad led a very active life. He was a founding member of the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank and freely volunteered his time to Oliver Place, St. Edwards School children’s greenhouse project, and delivered flowers in the St. Paul’s Hospital Spiritual Care Program. He was an active part of the CARG program for cardiac rehabilitation since the late 1980’s and a volunteer for many years as a visitor in the Cardiac Program at the RUH. Laughter, music, and a special blend of hellery were an important part of his everyday life. He regularly played piano, organ, and accordion at his place of residence – Oliver Place and at his local Lutheran Church. He spent summers at Emma Lake with friends, enjoyed fishing, baking and was an avid gardener. Lloyd was predeceased by his loving wife Joan; brother Albert Olson; parents Clarence and Evelyn. He is survived by his children Brenda (Warren) Andrews of Kamsack and son Greg in Moose Jaw; grandchildren Elizabeth in Great Falls, Montana and Rebecca in Moose Jaw; and a niece and numerous nephews. Lloyd was cremated and will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. from Park Funeral Chapel, 311 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK. If desired CARG members can wear their red shirts.
