On Dec. 27, 2012, the world lost a tremendous father, son, brother and friend. With heavy hearts we regret to announce the sudden passing of Stephen John Dorko, age 35.
Stephen was always the person who could lift your spirit and brighten your day with his quick wit and infectious laugh. His easy demeanor and kind heart always made you smile and most times he could make you laugh until you cried. “Stevie D” was a genuinely caring and charismatic individual, loved by all who knew him.
Born and raised in Sydney, N.S., Stephen is survived by two beautiful daughters, the love of his life, Ella and Adrianna Wintermans, Sydney; mother, Jocelyn Dorko-Giles (Tom), St. Catharines, Ont.; one brother, Sheldon Dorko and two sisters, Samantha Dorko and Veronica Grosset (Louis), all of Sydney. Stephen also leaves behind three nieces, Jessica Dorko, Allie Aucoin and Samantha Grosset and one nephew, Nathan Grosset. Stephen loved his nieces and nephew like his own and Uncle “Doo-Dah” will be deeply missed and forever cherished. Stephen also leaves many close friends who will always remember “having a time”.
Stephen was predeceased by his father, John Dorko, maternal grandparents, Abe and Phyllis (Hatcher) Oxford and paternal grandparents, William and Katherine (Dupe) Dorko.
There will be no visitation for Stephen. A memorial service celebrating the life of “Stevie D” will be held Jan. 3, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Sheldon Chant officiating.
