Allister John MacKenzie, 80, of Middle River, Victoria County, passed away Jan. 2, 2012, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital.
Born March 15, 1932 in Middle River, he was the son of the late Norman and Annie (MacRae) MacKenzie. Allister spent several years working in Toronto before moving home to take over the family farm.
Allister is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Joan (MacLean) MacKenzie; sons, David (Annette) and Sandy (Kerrie), Middle River, Carl (Julia), Ottawa and daughter, Jean (Donnie), Halifax. He is also survived by grandchildren, David Alexander, Ryan, Emma, Carter, Kailyn, Miguel, Jenna, Joe and Ryan; sisters, Joan, Scarsdale, New York and Jessie, Van Anda, B.C.; nephews, Glen (Kelly) Dowden, Paul and Mark Brillantes.
Along with his parents, Allister was predeceased by his sister, Margaret; brother-in-law, Leslie Dowden and nephew, Robert Dowden.
Allister was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge, Branch 35 and Past Patron of Eastern Star, Victoria Chapter 19.
He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all.
Visitation will be held on Friday Jan. 4, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Farquharson Memorial Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m in. Farquharson Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial to follow in the Middle River Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria County Memorial Hospital or the Parkinson's Society.
Arrangements are under the care of the Sunset Funeral Cooperative.
