At the Margaret Stewart Ellis Home, O’Leary, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, of George Chester Gamble of Alaska, aged 86, husband of Ruth Annie (Smith). Born July 2, 1926, he was the son of Chester and Clara (Palmer). Dear father to Betty Fitzgerald, Wayne (Pearl), both of Alaska; Norman (Sue), Poplar Grove; Clara (Alan) Gillis, Alaska; and daughter-in-law Diane Gamble, Alberton. Loving grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. George is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: Lloyd (Joyce) Smith, Dunville, ON; Ella (Jimmy) Heighton, River John, NS; Ina Smith, Murray Corner; Norma (Percy) Sentner, O’Leary; Rena (Marvin) Jackson, O’Leary; Leona Smith, Bella Smith, Esther Smith, all of Pictou, NS; Norman Allen, Murray Corner; and Ricky (Sandra) Smith, Dunblane. Predeceased by his parents, son Lloyd, son-in-law Roger Fitzgerald, daughter-in-law Sylvia and brother Wesley (Marion). Resting at the Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O’Leary, with visiting hours Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service Saturday in the chapel at 11 a.m. Interment in the spring in West Devon United Cemetery. In memory of George, memorials to the Cemetery Fund or to Margaret Stewart Ellis Home, O’Leary, would be appreciated.
