Roy Eldridge Whidden

Roy Whidden, 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro.
Born in Onslow, he was the son of the late Harry and Nettie (Deyrmond) Whidden.
Roy was a member of Sydney River United Church. He was a member of East Gate Lodge #127 AF and AM, 50-year member, Past Master, and secretary for 15 years. He was involved in the Scottish Rite, Rose Croix, Nova Scotia Consistory, 32 degree mason. Roy was an active volunteer for years with Meals on Wheels and Palliative Care. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 126, Westmount.
Roy is survived by sons, Roy, Halifax and Jeffrey (Katherine), St. Louis, USA; sister, Doris (Everill Goff), Truro; and brother, Foster, Truro; grandchildren, Chelsea (19), Lauren (16), Addison (5), Kylee (3) and Grayson (8 months) Whidden.
Roy was predeceased by his wife, Eva Joyce (MacIsaac).
Visitation will take place Saturday, Jan. 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. at the United Protestant Church of Sydney River, with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Interment in Alfred Smith Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Cedarstone Enhanced Care.
