It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Vernon Cornfield of Kensington on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside. He was born in Saint John, NB, on April 22, 1921, to the late Henry and Jessie (Gates) Cornfield. Vernon is survived by his son, Bill of Kensington; daughter, Donna Cornfield of Atlanta, GA, USA; stepson, Lawrence Campbell of Mt. Stewart; brother, Murray (Norma) of Saint John, NB; stepgrandchildren, Wilford, Jorden and Skye Lynn as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Vernon was predeceased by his first wife, Marion (Phillips); his second wife, Eileen (MacLeod Campbell) and seven of his siblings. In keeping with Vernon’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Cemetery, Hoyt, NB, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in his honour may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
