RICHARDSON, John Barckley, 100, Shelburne, formerly of Allendale, passed away peacefully in Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Saturday, January 5, 2013. Born in Jones Harbour on September 6, 1912, he was a son of the late Sidney and Ester (Harlow) Richardson. John was a fisherman by trade and a member of the Osborne Baptist Church. In his day he was an avid reader, hunter, passionate gardener and enjoyed a good game of cards. Although legally blind he bowled with the Seniors Bowling League up until 2012. He was a man of small stature but big heart with a determination like no other. Of all his accomplishments in his 100 years his family was his most important. He raised his family in Allendale where he lived most of his life. Survived by his sons, Sidney (Jane), Kingston, Ont., Dale (Mary), Little Harbour, John (Irene), Hunts Point; grandchildren, Peter, Paula, Shelley, Laura, Kimberley and Renee; ten great-grandchildren as well as his special friend, Sylvia Bower. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn (nee Thompson), son Gary; sisters, Peg, Janet, Shirley, Sydney and Edith. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 10 in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne with Rev. Edwin Allen officiating. Interment in Osborne Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Osborne Baptist Church or Osborne Cemetery.
