SMITH, Marie Vivian – 84, of Lawrencetown, NS passed away peacefully Friday, January 4, 2013 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in West Dalhousie, she was a daughter of the late Laurie and Hilda (Durling) Gillis. Marie was a generous and compassionate care giver for many elderly residents in their own homes and also worked at a number of local restaurants. She was a member of the Middleton Baptist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Annaval Chapter No. 31. She is survived by her son, Donnie Smith (Pam Jones), Inglisville; grandchildren, DJ Smith (Dawn Acker), Inglisville; Jennifer (Kevin) Wallis, Lantz and great grandchildren Nicholas and Dyson; sisters-in-law, Myra Gillis, Annapolis and Erma Lou Gillis, Granville Ferry and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Allison and brothers Basil and Everett. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held Tuesday, January 8, 2013 beginning with an Order of Eastern Star tribute, conducted by Annaval Chapter No. 31 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 where a memorial service was held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. A reception for family and friends followed the service. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown.
