McMULLEN, Norman -62, of Prince Street, Pictou, and formerly of Ontario, passed away suddenly January 7, 2013 at home. Born in Belfast, Ireland, he was a son of the late William & Essie (McBride) McMullen. Norman came to Canada as a child, settling first in Rosedale, and growing up in Richmond Hill, Ontario. He was married in 1972 and lived in the New Market, Ontario area until moving to the family home in Pictou, three years ago. Despite his disease, and living in pain, Norman loved life, and particularly life in Pictou. He will be remembered for his inner strength and love of family. He will be missed by all. Surviving are his wife, and partner in life and business, Myrna (Dawe); sons, David and Jeremy McMullen, both of Ontario; daughter, Cyhera McMullen, Pictou; grandsons, Dawson, Rylan and Julien; sister, Sally (Jim) Mieske, Westville; and brother, David (Kathy), Pictou; Stefanie, Melanie, Yvonne, and several other nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother in infancy, Joey. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Friday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will take place 2:00 PM Saturday from First Presbyterian Church, Pictou, with Rev. Iona MacLean officiating. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
