Trenton - Melburn Peter Anderson, 82, of Trenton, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow with his wife and children at his bedside. Born in Little Egypt, he was a son of the late Robert Peter and Lexie Jane (Reid) Anderson. Prior to retirement, he dedicated 37 years as a car worker at the former Trenton Steel Works. Mel enjoyed going to his camp in James River and spending time with his 13 grandchildren. He was a storyteller and possessed a comical sense of humour. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Helen Catherine (Carrigan); children: Peter, at home; Shirley (Joe) Crawly, Little Egypt; Daisy (Todd) Fraser, Trenton; Margie (Billy) Fraser, Trenton; Billy, at home; Edith (Scott) Forsyth, New Glasgow; Danny (Darlene) Anderson, Trenton; Karen (Dustin) Rioux, North River; grandchildren: Scott, Nastassia, Ashley, Amanda, Jillian, Ashton, Alyssa, Abby, Curtis, Justin, Isabelle, Shawn and Ava; great grandchildren: Jeremiah and Elsa; brother Bruce, Little Egypt; sister-in-law Jean Anderson, Little Egypt; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters: May, Lila, Catherine, Celia and Lena; his brothers: Chester, John, Edwin, Lawrence and Warren. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitations by Mel's request. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Lung Association. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H.
