Former Salvation Army Officer entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 7th, 2013 from Glenbrook Lodge in St. John’s. Sam was predeceased by his wife Mahalla (Mollie) in 2008. Left with cherished memories are his son Derrick (Lyn); granddaughters: Captain Nancy Braye (Mark) and Kathryn Tansley (Aaron); great-grandchildren: Hannah and Micah Braye; sisters-in-law: Charlotte Seymour (Solomon) and Florence Ivany (Whitfield); brothers-in-law: Ches Ivany (Bobbie) and Hubert Ivany (Yvonne); and a circle of nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Wednesday, January 9th from 7 - 9 p.m. as well as Thursday, January 10th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A celebration of Sam’s life will be held at The Salvation Army, St. John’s Temple, Torbay Road on Friday, January 11th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in Sam’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of one’s choice.
