ANDERSON: It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marilyn Anderson, age 71, on Sunday, December 30, 2012. Marilyn was born April 7, 1941 in Swift Current, SK. Marilyn loved to play the piano and remembers often playing in church for weddings, funerals and special events. She taught piano lessons for many years while her children were young. Once her children were grown she went back to work in retail, eventually managing Bentley Leather in Swift Current. She held this position for many years until April, 2012 when she became ill. She enjoyed working very much and loved the interaction with people, especially her friends and staff at Bentley. Her greatest love was her family and especially her grandchildren. She leaves to mourn a family that meant the world to her: Her loving husband of 51 years Mert Anderson - Swift Current, SK; her three daughters, Bevi (Shaun) Herron and their children Taylor and Teneille - Regina, SK, Lori (Rod) Dueck and their children Matthew, Justin and Shaelyn - Waldeck, SK, Sarah Dueck and her children Wyatt and Harlow and Scott Dueck - Rosetown, SK; Kari (Paul) Hackett and their children Paige, Hope, Tyler, Parker, Tanner and Belle - Hermantown, Minnesota; sister, Alfie Yolland - Swift Current, SK; nieces and nephews, Ron (Kathy) Strand - Calgary, AB, Byran (Alex) Strand - Calgary, AB, Barb (Mike) Peters - Calgary, AB, Louise Meers - California, Don (Wendy) Yolland - Swift Current, SK and Diane (Rod) Berreth - Strathmore, AB; cousins Marj (Jim) Burnett - Regina, SK and Laverne (Chuck) Hodgson - Weyburn, SK, Margot Tretterud - Norway, Knut Rustad - Norway, and Gunnar Rustad - Norway, as well as many great nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. She is predeceased by her father, Sigvald Jorgenson in 1987; mother, Astrid Jorgenson in 2012; sister, Eleanor Strand in 1989; brother, Stan Jorgenson in 2012; and brothers-in-law George Strand in 1975 and George Yolland in 1997. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the Church of the Open Bible, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Rob Cochrane officiating. The pianist for the service was Wendy Cochrane. “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Children of the Heavenly Father” were sung by the congregation. Scripture was read from John 3:16 and Romans 8:28 by Matt Dueck with Psalm 23 read by Pastor Ron Cochrane. The tribute was shared by Shaun Herron. The ushers in the church were Robert Klassen and Max Mirau. Honorary Pallbearers were the grandchildren, Teneille Herron, Taylor Herron, Matthew Dueck, Justin Dueck, Shaelyn Dueck, Sarah Dueck, Scott Dueck, Paige Hackett, Hope Hackett, Tyler Hackett, Parker Hackett, Tanner Hackett and Bell Hackett. The Interment Service was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Ron Strand, Bryan Strand, Shaun Herron, Paul Hackett, Rod Dueck and Kolly Mjolid. In memory of Marilyn Anderson, donations made to the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Health Care Foundation – Chemo Lab would be appreciated by the family.
