It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, John Assoun on Jan. 11, 2013
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Reginald and Helen (O'Dea) Assoun.
John will be sadly missed by his loving wife and best friend, Shirley (Baker) of 44 years; his two daughters, Darlene (Wally MacMillan), Angela (Daniel Boyd); and his precious granddaughter, Hailee. He is also survived by six brothers, Ken (Dorothy), Jim (Sylvia), Louis, Glenn, Kevin (Brenda), Ronald (Delores); and sister, Kim.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother David.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra st., Sydney, with funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Interment to take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
John enjoyed life and the outdoors, he was an avid fisherman, loved his country music, and truly an animal lover.
In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to the Kidney or Heart and Stroke Foundation, as well as the SPCA.
