Jessie Hanley
Beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at her home. Jessie was predeceased by her husband Fred, her parents, Margaret and Eb Knight, by three brothers; Cecil, Gordon and Kenneth Knight and by one sister, Margaret May. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Karey Rowe (Rob) of Ontario and Heather Mykytiw of Moose Jaw, by her granddaughters Laurie Wehner (Kim), of Saskatoon, Angela and Zoe Mykytiw of Calgary, her great-grandchildren Ben (Laura) Schuster, Lori (Jordan) Parker and Jerika Schuster, Anna and Chad Wehner, and by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Jessie was born to Margaret and Eb Knight in Renfrew, Ontario on February 2, 1917, however was raised in Aylesbury, SK from infancy. She received her accounting certificate at the Moose Jaw Business College and worked in Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC. She met and married Fred Hanley and together they raised their daughters in Moose Jaw. From a very early age, she began developing a love of art, and studied art throughout her entire life. She was best known for this passion and enjoyed many positions with the Moose Jaw Art Guild. She remained active as a member of the Art Museum until very recently. Jessie was also known for her vibrant outgoing personality. She was a 56 year resident of her neighborhood, and took great pride in her home and gardens. She loved her independence and at the age of 95 she continued to drive her own car. Throughout her life she was very supportive of many charitable organizations, and was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion since 1977. At Jessie’s request, a memorial service will be held in the spring on a date to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Parkview Funeral Chapel.
