Philomena (nee Aylward) Cadigan

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home in the loving presence of her family, Philomena Cadigan of Logy Bay, at age 82. Philomena lived with a deep faith, quiet strength and gentle love, always our comfort, our compass. She was the last living child of John and Gertrude Aylward of Cape Broyle. Predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Coleman P. Cadigan, sisters: Marie Reddy (Peter) and Agnes Kent, brothers: Jack, Martin, Patrick, Thomas and Alfred Aylward; sisters-in-law: Margaret Roche (Edward) and Alice Cadigan; brothers-in-law: Michael Cadigan (Isabel), Stephen Cadigan, Patrick Cadigan; special niece Bernadette Cheeseman. Left to mourn with loving memories are her children: Lynn Cadigan (Robert Berkshire), Trudy Taylor (Tom), Warren Cadigan (Monica) and Nick Aylward (Kay); grandchildren: Crystal and Jonathan Taylor, Ken and Coleman Cadigan, Nicole, David and Heather Aylward (Chris Cahill); beloved nieces: Shelly Cheeseman and Gertie Reddy; sisters-in-law: Mary and Marg Aylward, Mary Madison (Alvin), Regina Cadigan; brother-in-law: Dan Cadigan. Special thanks to the staff of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, Dr. Alan Goodridge and Denise Murphy. We are grateful for your tremendous help and support. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home on LeMerchant Road. Visitation from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 15th and 16th. Funeral Mass to take place on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. from St. Francis of Assisi Church, Outer Cove. Interment to follow at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Cemetery, Outer Cove. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in her memory to the SPCA or local animal rescue.
Miss me a little – but not long
and not with your head bowed low.
