Alphonsus (Phonse) LaCosta

The family of the late Alphonsus (Phonse) LaCosta is saddened to announce his passing on January 14, 2013 after a week in hospital surrounded by family and friends. Phonse will be sadly missed by his wife of over 65 years, Mary and his two daughters: Isabell (Kenny) Hawco and Judy (Philip) LaCosta, his three sons: Sam (Wendy), Roger (Mary Lee) and Roddie. He leaves to mourn his grandchildren: Dean, Joliah, Deanna, Tammy, Tracy, Ryan, Samantha, Travis, Kayla, Kyle and his great-grandchildren: Nicole, Jaeden, Jaidah, Reece, Blake and Isabella, his brother, Mercier and his sisters, Isabel and Sadie. Phonse was predeceased by his parents John and Emma, 7 brothers and 5 sisters. Born in Piccadilly, Phonse lived most of his life in Campbell’s Creek. He was a heavy equipment operator and a fisherman by trade, admired by many on and off the water. He was a gardener, a moose hunter, a rabbit catcher, a dancer and a lover of Newfoundland music. Friends may call the Maria Regina Parish in Port au Port East on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Maria Regina Parish in Port au Port East with Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Campbell’s Creek.
