Passed peacefully away after a long struggle with Alzheimers in the presence of her family at St. Luke’s Home on Monday, January 14, 2013, in her 84th year, of Avondale. Predeceased by her husband Nicholas, grandson, Mikie Phillips, son-in-law, Greg Phillips, parents: Michael and Sarah Devereaux, father and mother-in-law: Timothy and Rachel Hawco; brothers: William and Emmanuel and his wife Edie, sister Margaret, brother-in-law Edward Fitzgerald; sister-in-law Bride Brinkman and her husband Bob, sister-in-law Olive Hawco. Leaving to mourn children: Gordon (Donna), Marilyn Phillips, Kenneth (Helen) June (Rick) Connors, Edmund (Cindy), Brian (Bev), Jack (Denise), Nick (Sandra), Bob
(Trish), Dianne (Paul) Howse, 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers: James (Florence), Michael (Jean), Frank (Barb), Joe (Gerri), Greg (Babe), sisters: Rita Fitzgerald, Theresa (Ray) Marburger, Rosella (Bill) Byrne, Bernice (Ed) Dalton; brother-in-law Joe Hawco (Shirley), numerous nieces, nephews and a large circle of extended family and friends. Special thank you to the staff at St. Luke’s Home for the excellent care Mom received there and to those who visited her there. Resting at Dunphy's Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 pm to 9 pm. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at Assumption Church, Avondale. Interment to follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Chapel’s Cove. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
