MacLEOD, Wayne Douglas – 69, Masstown, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Wayne fought one battle with cancer and won, but he lost the second battle, Born Auguts 10, 1943, in Springhill, he was the son of the late Douglas G. and Phyllis (Reid) MacLeod. (Rockley, NS) Wayne was an auto body mechanic by trade, and he was an insurance appraiser for The Cooperators where he worked for 19 years, and was known affectionately as “Grumpy” by his co-workers. He then went on to work for McLeod’s Safety Services in Traffic Control. Wayne was one of the founding members of ACMVA-Atlantic Canada Military Vehicle Association, whose motto was the Restoration and preservation of military vehicles. His other interests included ham radio in his younger years, and also a passion for building models – big and small. Wayne is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sheila (MacGregor); Sheila’s children, Shannon-Lee Jenner, Michael Shawn Jenner and grandchildren, Ryan, Casey, Aubrey, all of Whitehorse, Yukon; his sisters, Joan Legere and her children; Sandy Burke and her children; Carolyn (Tom) Seaman and their children; extended family member, Blanche Thorburn and her children, all of Amherst. Along with his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Harold Burke; nephew, Hal Burke; extended family member, Toby Thorburn. All are welcome to join with Wayne’s family for a time of remembering, laughing and sharing stories of his life. This will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013, in the lower lounge of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Brunswick Street, Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society, Palliative Care Unit of Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or a charity of choice are welcomed.
