FOWLIE, Ethel Frances - 91, Truro, and a resident of Fredericton, New Brunswick, for the past two years, passed away peacefully at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, on Monday, January 14, 2013. Born March 22, 1921, in Princeport, Colchester County, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late John D. Hughes, Sr. and Esther (Frame) Hughes. She was predeceased by infant sisters, Frances and Esther; infant brother, Warren; sister, Edith (Thomas J. Jr.) Hughes; brothers, John D. Jr. (Marjorie) Hughes, William (Lola) Hughes; husband, Donald Fowlie. Ethel is survived by her children, Gail (Starr) Dennahower, Murray Siding, Nova Scotia; Karen (John) McIntyre, Bear Island, New Brunswick; Greg (Catherine) Fowlie, Bedford, Nova Scotia; grandchildren, Nicholas Dennahower, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; Samantha Dennahower (Jonathan Assles), Coalhurst, Alberta; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and provided a loving household for her family and friends. A graduate of the Moncton Academy of Hairdressing, she had a long, successful career as a Hair Stylist. We wish to thank Dr. D. Field, Truro, her Doctor of many years; Dr. T. Randall, Fredericton; Dr. Feltmate, Fredericton; staff of Brunswick Hall, Fredericton where she lived for the last two years; her caregiver and friend, Judy Sims and nurses at 4NW for their care and kindness. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Ethel’s family will receive friends from 2-2:45 p.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013, followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m., Reverend Kym Burke-Cole officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment will be held in Watson Cemetery. Family flowers only.
