Vernon Edmunds

Arthur Vernon Edmunds passed away at the Northside General Hospital on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the age of eighty-five years. He had resided on Regent Street until last year when he moved into My Cape Breton Home for Seniors.
Vern retired from Marine Atlantic twenty-four years ago.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Aleta Allen, by his four sons and their families; Blair (Anne Marie) and their children, Bonnie (Jason) and Brent (Amanda); Gary (Joyce), Kurt, Glenn (Paula) and their children, Vernon, Erica (Thomas) and their daughter, Gracie. Also surviving are his sisters, Arthena and Georgina (Dennis), his brother Lorne and brother-in-law Raymond.
He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Minnie, four sisters, Ruth and Valda in childhood, as well as Gloria and Carol and by his brother, Seward (Madge).
We wish to thank Dr. Bill MacDonald for his professional and compassionate care over many years, and Dr. Dale Miller. Vern was comforted by the care he received in hospital from those in the Emergency Dept. and the staff of Four West of the Northside General hospital. Each and every one gave their very best.
Visitation for Vern will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney,
