Mary Eva Waud (nee Ackerman), wife of Bill Waud, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Moose Jaw Union Hospital from respiratory complications. Mary was in her 87th year. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, George William “Bill” Waud; and her daughter Shirley Lavallee both of Moose Jaw; sister-in-law Dot Ackerman of Moose Jaw; sister Barbara of Medicine Hat and many, many Ackerman relatives. Mary is also survived by three grandchildren; Richard “Rick” Lavallee and Cindy of Sylvan Lake, Alberta; Brian Lavallee and wife Michelle and children Carson and JR of Moose Jaw, and Michelle Heisler and husband Matt, of Moose Jaw. Mary is survived by six great-grandchildren; Logan and Tanner of Sylvan Lake; Lexie and Sidney of Moose Jaw, and Emily and Mackenzie of Moose Jaw. Mary was predeceased by son Terry Waud in 1974. Mary was born in Denzil, Saskatchewan to parents of Western Russian descent. She and her brothers and sisters were raised on a rented farm in the Crane Valley District near Moose Jaw. She worked as sales clerk from 1947 to 1986, mostly at Eaton’s in Moose Jaw. She and Bill lived in Lethbridge, Alberta when first married but returned to Moose Jaw to raise their family. Mary’s favorite hobby was researching family history in East Yorkshire; research she enjoyed sharing with Richard. There is no funeral. A graveside memorial service will be held in early spring at Rosedale Cemetery. Donations may be made to the MS Society of Saskatchewan, 150 Albert Street, Regina, S4R 2N2 in Mary’s memory.
