It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, aunt and friend, Goldie Gunn, on Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Perham) Ings.
Goldie graduated from the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She would spend her entire nursing career at Harbour View Hospital in Sydney Mines, where she particularly enjoyed working in the delivery room and maternity units, and later retire as the director of nursing.
She was an avid knitter and loved spending her summers in the sun at the cottage in Georges River.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Goldie is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 55 years, John, also by her loving son Ian; special niece Charlene Ings and many other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Major, Martha Ings and Georgina Andrews; brothers, Ernest, Johnny, Charles and Angus.
Visitation for Goldie will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service for Goldie will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, from the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, at a later date.
