It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, relative and friend.
Mary Frances Murphy, 91, of 23 Devisons's Lane, Glace Bay, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Benacadie Pond, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Archie MacDougall and Margaret Warburton.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Margie McVicar, Sydney, Lorraine (Duane) Scarlett, Mount Albert, Ont., Dolores ‘Dodie’ (Wayne) MacGillivary, Pictou; sons, Stevie (Alice) Murphy and Lonnie (Helen) Murphy, Glace Bay. Also surviving are sister, Kay Patribony, Sydney; sisters-in-law, Annie Walsh and Chris Murphy, Glace Bay; grandchildren, Russell (Shelia), Audrey (Rob), Donnie (Vera), Jeff (Ann), Sherene (Dwayne), Wayne (Brenda), Aaron (Julie),Elizabeth (Chris),Tracey, Bryne (Tammy), Colin (Kerri) and Terry (Raven) and great-grandchildren, Jonathan (Anita), Jacqueline (Rob), Aaron, Mya, Alex, Connor, Jax, Dallas, Ken, Emma, Rhyan, Callie, Evan, Jayln and Jordyn.
She was predeceased by her husband, Hilbert; son, Michael; great-grandson, Matthew; as well as sisters, Mary Lucy, Sadie, Annie and brothers, Michael, John, Malcolm and Hector.
Mary was a long time member of St. Leo's Parish and their ladies auxiliary. She was an avid knitter making mitts and hats for many loved ones and community organizations. Mary was fluent in Gaelic and loved nothing better than conversing with others in Gaelic.
Visitation for Mary will be today (Tuesday) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Leo’s Church. Burial in St. Anne’s Cemetery will be followed by a reception in the church hall.
