Cyril Peter "Cy" Walsh
1923-2013
Cyril Peter Walsh, 89, of Veterans' Health Center, Moncton, NB, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at his residence.
Born in Iona, PEI, he was the son of the late Benjamin and the late Agnes (née: Rooney) Walsh.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Walsh had worked for Nortel. He served the Canadian Army from 1942-1945, with the Essex Scottish Infantry Regiment and with the 6th Light Anti-Aircraft Unit of the Royal Montreal Regiment. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 and St.-Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Moncton.
He is survived by his three sons: Patrick (Jean) of Dieppe, NB, Wayne (Janice) of Stilesville, NB, and James (Kathy) of Riverview, NB; two loving grandchildren: David and Samantha; two sisters: Veronica Walsh of Tewksbury, Mass., and Imelda (Jimmy) Tyler of Wilmington, Mass.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Nova (née: Veno) in 2007; six sisters: Theresa, Mary, Sister Theresa, Agnes, Ethel and Gertie; as well as five brothers: Bill, Raymond, Dick, Leo and Norbert.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (506-857-1901), on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and also on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. A legion service will be held on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. Funeral service will be celebrated from the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel, Dieppe, NB, on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Bernard Sloan officiating. Interment in Our-Lady-of-Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, NB, at a later date.
