It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our courageous hero, Willard Andrews, age 59 of South River on January 27, 2013 at The Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s, N.L. Predeceased by parents: Harold and Marcella; brother Reginald; sister Lorraine, sister-in-law Nina; brother-in-law Charles Casey, and in-laws: Rev. William and Anne Butt. Leaving to mourn wife, Debbie; dearly loved daughters: Jennifer (Mike) and Danielle; sister Ruby; brothers: Fred (Shirley); Bill (Doreen); Gordon (Judy); Philip (Mary), Bert (Debby), brother-in-law: Fred Boone; sister-in-law Brenda Snow-Andrews; special aunt, Marguerite Jester, and cousins: Bernice and Buster, NH, U.S.A., as well as many treasured nieces and nephews, god-child Barry, cousins, and a large circle of friends. Willard has been a true inspiration to cancer patients in our province as he has fought this terrible disease for the past seven years, with a never ending quest to be the first recipient of new cancer drugs on several occasions. His bravery and dedication to Never Quit and spirit to persevere, will continue to help other cancer patients in their battle to overcome this disease. He always held the words of Faith, Hope and Love in his determination to live. Special thanks to the doctors and staff of the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre and especially Dr. Ahmad who has loyally traveled with Willard along his journey. The care and compassion of the nursing staff on 4 North A will never be forgotten and special thanks to Tara, Lorie and Brenda. We have been so blessed and honored to have him as husband, father, brother and friend throughout this time. We have all become stronger and have learned the true meaning to “Never Give Up” despite the odds being against you. The Funeral Service will take place Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 2 p.m. at The Anglican Parish of the Resurrection, South River with interment to follow at the South River Cemetery, South River. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Slade’s Funeral Home, Access Road, Bay Roberts, between the hours of: Tuesday and Wednesday: 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday: 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations can be made to the Willard Andrews Memorial Fund in aid of cancer patients on 4 North A.
