It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce that Jean Buffett (nee Ludlow), formerly of North Sydney and Bedford, N.S., died peacefully surrounded by her family at Harbourstone Enchanced Care Facility in Sydney River on Jan. 30, 2013.
Born in Sydney Mines on Oct. 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Jessie (Mitchell) Ludlow.
Jean was the manager at Eatons order office in North Sydney for many years. She also worked as the office administrator for the Cape Breton Hospital before retiring to live in Bedford.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Diane (Sam) Farrell, New Minas, N.S., sons, Gary (Diana), North Sydney, Greg, Halifax, Ralph (Norma), North Sydney, and daughter, Donna Buffett, Sydney Mines; her grandchildren, Stacey Buffett (John Hart), Lori (Clancy) MacDonald, Cara Buffett, Geoffrey Farrell, Brett (Kristen) Farrell, Devin Buffett (Lori MacMillan). She will also be greatly missed by her several great-grandchildren.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, William Buffett and by her sisters, Pearl, Emma, Florrie and Eve and brothers, Ken, Allan ‘Gus,’ Frank, Nelson, Gordon, Fred and Ralph.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at 2 p.m., today (Thursday) at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating.
