It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our aunt, Bun, on Jan. 31, 2013 at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney.
Born in Lingan, N.S. on July 4, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Bernadette (MacNeil) and Michael Cathcart.
Bun was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint Anthony Daniel parish, Sydney. She spent her working career with the Bank of Nova Scotia retiring in 1982 after 45 years of service. Bun was a very sociable lady and in her younger years enjoyed dancing, bowling, skating and golfing, which she played into her eighties. She was a lifetime member at Lingan Golf and Country Club. While at the Cove, she attented all their activities.
Bun is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Bun was predeceased by brothers James, Charles, Bill, Leonard and Michael Emmett; sisters, Sr. Mary Helen, CSM, Nora Larade, Claire Munsen and Hilda Cathcart.
Visitation will be held today (Friday), Feb. 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A Christian mass to celebrate Bun's life will take place Saturday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow in St. Leonard's Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
