With much sadness, the family of Edith Ayer age 84 of Amherst, announce her sudden passing at home on Wednesday, January 30, 2013.
Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts USA, Edith was a daughter of the late George and Annie (Brown) McLeod. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years Leslie William Ayer in 2007, a sister June, brothers Leslie and Arnold McLeod.
Edith is survived by her five children Sherri (Doug) Thompson, Amherst; Nadine (Brian) Brooks, Dartmouth; Jane (David) Crocker, Amherst; Trudy( Paul) Black Quispamsis, NB and Perry (Sharron)Ayer , Sackville NS, her brother George (Verlie)McLeod, Amherst; and sister in law, Pearl Triff of Tyndal Rd; 12 grandchildren Troy and Dougie, Blain, Joel and Evan, Luke and Annie, Coleman and Ayerica, Kirsten, Kelsie and Ethan, great-granddaughters Jackie and Olivia as well as several nieces and nephews.
A devoted mother, she was happiest spending time with her children, grandchildren and extended friends in the community. Her commitment to her family will be forever cherished and remembered by all.
A gathering to celebrate mom’s life for her family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Amherst in the vestry between the hours of 3-5 p.m.
In respecting Edith’s wishes cremation has taken place and a family burial will take place in the spring.
Donations in mom’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice, through Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906).
