Suddenly in Florida, on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, Mr. John ‘Jack’ Budden, B.A., B.Ed., M.A.
Survived by his loving wife, Olive Thompson-Budden, predeceased by his first wife Hattie Fidgen. Loving father of Wendy Brett, Maplewood, N.J., John Douglas (Debbie), Woodstock, N.B. and Patricia Stewart (Craig), Greensboro, N.C. Stepfather of Robert (Beverly), Simcoe, Barry (Elaine), Mississauga, Leigh Anne Cain (Geoff), London and Craig (Maureen), Winnipeg. Will be missed by his grandchildren, Rachel, Laura and Molly Brett, Cole Stewart, Jacqueline Antworth and by eight Thompson grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Budden, of Glace Bay, N.S.; his brothers, Albert, Leonard, Abel and Robert and by his sisters, Florence and Edith.
Survived by Anne Johnston, Glace Bay, Arthur, Dartmouth, N.S., Gerald (Judy), Sydney, N.S. and by many nieces and nephews.
Proud graduate of Mt. Allison University, N.B. and University of Maine. Jack was a gifted educator and administrator in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He retired as principal of New Brunswick Community College. Jack was active in his community in many levels, including District Governor of Rotary International (Paul Harris Fellow), Probus Club of London, as well as an active and committed member of the United Church of Canada. He was always proud of his Cape Breton roots.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Life was held at Byron United Covenant Church, London, on Friday, January 15, 2009 at 11 a.m.
Contributions to the Memorial Fund of Byron Covenant Church, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
A memorial service will be held in Woodstock, N.B. at a later date.
Westview Funeral Chapel (519 641-1793) entrusted with arrangements.
