Born In: Pugwash
It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Roberta Mae Penny, at the Palliative Care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Pugwash, N.S. she was the daughter of Mrs. Helen (Pettigrew) Forrest, Pugwash and the late Howard Forrest.
Roberta worked at the Cape Breton Post in the mailroom and greatly enjoyed reading the paper. She could remember everything she read in it. She loved to bowl and was an avid reader.
Besides her mother, Roberta is survived by her husband, Frank Penny; her sisters, Isabelle (Bryan) Chapman, Springhill, N.S, Heidi Conrod, Pennfield N.B, and Susan (Dale) Ferdinand, Oxford N.S.; brothers, Hubert (Wendy) Forrest, Amherst N.S and Doug (Tammy) Forrest, Linden N.S., the extended Penny family, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.
Funeral service to be held on February 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Philip Penny and Rev. Bob Lyle officiating.
Interment to follow at Forrest Haven Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to send a special thank-you to good friend Anne Shears, Dr. A D’Intino, Dr. M. Smith, the nursing staff at the palliative unit, and 4b. Also, thank-you to sister in law Ann Mombourquette, and Mary Penny for always being there.
