Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Sunday, February 3, 2013 after a brief illness, Eugene Parsons, of St. John’s (formerly of Victoria) aged 80 years. Predeceased by his mother Julia; father James; step-father Ernest; brothers: Rudy and James; sisters: Stella and Gladys; as well as step-brothers and step-sisters. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 57 years, Joan Parsons (nee Rowsell); children: Roy (Peggy), Darlene (Ronnie), Barry (Roslyn), Sandra (Bobby), Keith (Donna), Ruth (Wilson), Robert (Michelle), Elizabeth (Al), Jeff (Courtney); 20 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as sisters: Murly Percy and Rita Tuttle; sisters-in-law: Melinda Loveman, Phoebe Sheppard, Janet Rowsell (Willis), Helen Parsons, and Mary Sutton; brother-in-law: Baxter Rowsell (Madeline); as well as a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday, February 5, and Wednesday, February 6, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place from Barrett’s Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
