WALTER, Thomas James
October 4, 1958 – January 24, 2013
It is with much sadness and very heavy hearts that the family of Thomas James Walter wish to announce his sudden passing while at work overseas in Yemen. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He enjoyed life to its fullest and the time he spent with family and friends were the moments he treasured most. Tom had a great sense of humour that lit up the room and enriched the lives of everyone around him. He will be dearly missed.
Tom was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan on October 4, 1958, the second youngest of six children born to Gordon and Dorothy Walter. He grew up in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and married his high school sweetheart Laura in 1978. After a short time in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Tom and Laura moved to Edmonton, Alberta where they settled down and raised a family. Tom worked overseas for many years in Yemen and around the world. He was a loyal, well-respected colleague and will be missed by the many close friends he made throughout his career. Condolences were received by the family from around the world.
Tom is predeceased by his parents Gordon and Dorothy, brother Brian and father-in-law Doug McMillan. He is lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 34 years, Laura; children, Chad (Sarah), Jana (Justin), Matt (Jocelyn); beloved grandchildren, Gavin and Braydon; siblings and siblings-in-law, Dave (Brenda), Marilyn, Bruce (Nadine), Kathy (Kerry), Barb (Guy), Ric (Bonita), Joanne, Bill (Dawn), Janie (Stan), Steve (Laura); mother-in-law Violet McMillan; and many nieces and nephews and close friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton.
