CAROL NIELSEN

Passed on: January 24th, 2013

We regret to announce the passing of Carol (Carolyn Rosa) Nielsen on January 24, 2013, in Kamloops, B.C. She was born in 1942 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan.

Carol is survived by her best friend and husband Ron Nielsen of Kamloops, daughter Laurie Rathbone (Rick) of Barriere, daughter Sandi Young (Michael), son Dean Douglas of Barriere and grandchildren Amber and Jesse Young. She is also survived by brothers and sisters Bill Mader (Charlotte), Dorothy MacDougall (Gordon), Jerry Mader (Terry), Barry Mader (Robin), Linda Koski, Elaine Blair (Rod), Brian Mader and Ted Mader, as well as special friends Grace Mader and Hazel Mader.

Carol's "persistence" will always be remembered by her young siblings, when she would make babysitting day special with lemonade and fudge. The times on Shuswap Lake were memorable for many nieces and nephews when she'd try whimsically to get them to like onion sandwiches. (They preferred her famous clam chowder!) Crib was Carol's preferred card game, but there was always time to play Rummy with the youngsters, even letting them win occasionally! Carol loved the outdoors and spent many weekends at the cabin; fishing, storytelling and relaxing with the Whiskey Jacks.

Carol always kept family and friends close to her heart. Future days spent fishing and camping will not be the same, as we will miss the laughter, the sense of humour and the endless love that was Carol.

May the waters be smooth
and your lines tight.
