Linda Finley
Linda Marilyn Finley (Baxter), age 72, of Truemanville, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, with her loving husband by her side.
Born March 21, 1940 in Amherst Head, NS, Linda was a daughter of the late Ronald and Myrtle (Doyle) Baxter.
Linda began her teaching career in Chapman Settlement after attending the Normal College in Truro. Later she taught at Acadia Street and St. Charles Schools, retiring after 31 year of service.
Linda was an active member of Sunrise Trinity United Church, serving in many capacities including Church Elder and Sunday school co-ordinator. In her spare time, Linda was an avid gardener, quilter, scrapbooker, tole painter, traveler and genealogist. Most of all she loved spending time with her friends and family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 50 years, Layton; beloved children, Bonnie (Glenn) Barnes, Calgary, AB, and Ashley (Sandie) Finley, Truro, NS; adored grandchildren, Dylan, Jamie, Cathy, Morgan and Brendan; brothers, Eugene (Elsie), Amherst Head; sisters, Charlene (Ian) Bowser, River John, NS, and Gayle (Greg) Gillespie, Wolfville, NS; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Linda was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Smith.
Cremation has taken place.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Mrs. Ruth Gamble, DLM officiating. Reception to follow.
Interment will take place in the Amherst Head Cemetery, Route 6, in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s memory may be made to the Sunrise Trinity United Church or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
