CHAMBERS, Gordon Earl - 86, of Windsor, formerly of Newport Station, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 4, 2013, in Haliburton Place, Windsor. Born in Brooklyn, Hants Co. on March 26, 1926 he was the son of the late George and Evelyn (Sanford) Chambers. Gordon spent many years farming, working for Norman Spence, Woolaver’s and Lundrigan’s Farms. He enjoyed playing Bingo and going fishing. Gordon was a “Mr. Fix It” and always enjoyed puttering around the house and the lawn, especially after his retirement. He will be greatly missed by his family, as he was the go to person when you had a problem. Gordon is survived by his daughter, Barbara Jessop (Dave), Truro; son-in-law, Chipman Jessop, Newport Station; grandchildren, Michael, Kenneth, Debbie, Holly, Scott, Karen and Evan; several great and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Lester (Shirley), Dartmouth; George (Molly), Brooklyn; Ronald, Windsor; sisters, Edith Levy, Newport Station; Joan Turple, Stewiacke. Gordon was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Mary Elizabeth (Burns); son, Raymond; granddaughter, Faye Bower; brothers, Donald, Harley, Howard and Arthur and sisters, Gladys, Marguerite and Geraldine. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, February 7. Funeral service took place 10 a.m., Friday, February 8, 2013 in the DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. Private family interment was held in Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix, with a reception following back in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Donations in memory of Gordon may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
