It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Julia Blagdon, 93, on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Julia was born in Ingonish, Victoria County, on April 20, 1919, the daughter of the late James and Charlotte (Hardy) Barnes.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Julia is survived by her husband, Henry Blagdon; her three sons, John Blagdon, Long Island, Emerson (Bessie) Blagdon, North Sydney, Lenny (Debbie) Blagdon, Amherst; five grandchildren, Michelle (Alex) Fougere, Johnny Blagdon, Loriann (Shane) Riles, Shaun Blagdon, Shane Blagdon; also by six great-grandchildren.
Julia was predeceased by her four sisters, Jessie LeFriend, Anne Murphy, Val Jackson, Edna Ings and stepbrother, Sam Hardy.
Visitation for Julia will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Carl Fraser officiating.
