It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, George Steven Robinson in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late John and Evelyn (Quirk) Robinson.
George was a hardworking man who over the years has worked various jobs including Allen’s Ice House, North Sydney Community Forum, Marine Railway and the Branch #19 North Sydney Legion. He was a friendly, well-known, people person from the Northside and was often seen being trailed by his grandchildren.
Survived by his wife of 57 years, Muriel (Witherall); daughters, Karen (Evan) Hillier, North Sydney, Christine (Gordon) Robinson, Sydney; sons, Steven (Donna), Joseph (Marina) and Robert (Diana), all from Calgary, Alta.; sisters, Leona (David) Tobin, Agnes (Greg) Gallant; brothers, Alec (Eunice), Joe (Karen), Willie (Priscilla) and Tommy, all from the Northside; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Monday, Feb. 11) in Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines. A celebration of George’s life will take place 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at St. Joseph’s Church, North Sydney, Fr. Patrick O’Neil will officiate. Interment at a later date.
Donations in George’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
