Marie Bernadette Landry

Marie Bernadette Landry, 98, Pomquet, Antigonish County, passed away at home on February 9, 2013, surrounded by her family.
Born in Afton, Antigonish Co., on November 9, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Isadore and Ellen (Pettipas) Landry.
Bernadette was very active in her community. She was a member of the former Pomquet Ladies Club, the Altar Society, and the Federation of Acadian Women. In her late 80s, Bernadette attended Ecole L'Acadia, Pomquet, to learn French and was very proud of her accomplishment. Bernadette enjoyed socializing and her favourite pastimes were playing cards and attending the seniors' club. Bernadette took great pride in her family and flourished in their presence.
She is survived by her daughters, Rose (Frank) Gosbee, Pomquet, Ellen (Patrick) Venedam, Pomquet, Rita (Robert) MacMillan, New Glasgow, Barbara (Anthony) Rovers, Pomquet; sons, Leo, Pomquet, Joseph (Lauretta), Stellarton, Sylvester (Rose), Pomquet, John (Margie), Pomquet; seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and brother, Leo, Afton.
Predeceased by her husband, Hubert M. Landry, daughter, Barbara Ann, in infancy, grandson, Robbie MacMillan and great-granddaughter, Haylee Rovers; and brothers, Finley, Sylvester, Aloysius, and Leslie.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9pm in the C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 11:00am in Ste. Croix Church, Pomquet, with Reverend P.J. Baccardax presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery in the spring.
