Karen Angus

ANGUS, KAREN ANN - Karen Ann Angus, 55, Oxford, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Born in Pugwash, she was a daughter of Albert and Mildred (MacDonald) Angus of Linden. Karen graduated from Pugwash District High School in 1975 and from Nova Scotia Teachers College in 1978. She began her teaching career in Northport Elementary School and later at Oxford Elementary School. Most recently she was teaching grade primary at Oxford Regional Education Centre until her illness. Karen loved teaching and believed her true calling was to teach and guide the primary students in her care, she felt strongly about teaching good reading skills in order to prepare them for further on in their education. Besides her parents, Karen is survived by her husband, Mike Masters, sons, Aaron (Mary Ann Moffitt) Nowaczek, Haileybury, ON and Darcy Nowaczek, Halifax; step daughters, Erin Masters (Nick Augustus), Halifax and Lauren Masters, Slave Lake, AB; brothers, Eric (Peg), North Gower, ON; Keith (Sheila), Linden; Paul (Wendy), Linden; sisters, Barb (John) Copp, Amherst; Gail (Vern) Crosthwaite, Sackville, NB; Nancy Patterson (Clarence MacLennan), Blues Mills, NS; Janet (Bill) Tower, Beckwith; Linda (Alan) Mattinson, Amherst; grandchildren, Connor and Everly Masters. She was predeceased by her close friend and cousin, Sandra Collins. Karen’s family would like to thank Dr. Peter Blaikie, Lynn Miller NP, staff of North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Oncology Centre, Cumberland VON and palliative care nurse Martha Underwood for all their wonderful care provided to Karen during her illness.
Visitation will be held Friday February 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (447-2930). Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 2 p.m. in the Oxford Regional Education Centre, 249 Lower Main Street. Donations may be made to the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada, Log a Load for Kids Canada, or to the the Oxford Fire Dept. Building Fund.
