It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother, great grandmother Lois Peddle on Friday Feb. 15, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Pictou, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Morris) MacNeil.
Lois in her early years was a piper with the Dunvegan Pipe Band, Westiville, and was one of the hundred pipers of the opening of the Canso Causway. Lois retired from the Cape Breton Regional Hospital as a switchboard operator where she made many close friendships.
She is know for her many talents and beautiful crafts, needlepoint, sewing, designing curtains and the décor. She had a great sense of humour and loved a good party and loved her boat rides along the Mira River.
Lois is survived by her loving husband, Edward; daughter Joanne (Blair) Clarke, Sydney; her sons Kevin (Margaret Maxner) Peddle, Albert Bridge, Craig Peddle, Sydney; step-sister, Arletta McKeough; her beloved grandson, Wesley; her precious granddaughters, Christianna, Anastacia, Jessica, Erin, Nicole and Megan; great grandchildren, Malik and Samira.
She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Shirley (Floyd) Matheson, Albert Bridge, Carol Baxter, Albert Bridge; brother-in-law, Gordon Peddle, Durham, NS; several nieces and nephews, as well as many special friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her step-mother, Ann McKeough.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Monday Feb. 18, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.
Funeral service will take place Tuesday Feb. 19,2013 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lydia MacKinnon officiating.
