Elizabeth Mary Smith

On Friday, February 15, 2013 Elizabeth Smith (nee Peddle) aged 92 years of Chance Cove, passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband, Frank (1982); grandson, Michael Hanlon (1965); her precious granddaughter, Trudyann Anderson (1992) and son-in-law, Anthony Hanlon (2005). Left with loving memories of her long and faithful life are her children, Gloria Hanlon, Alfreda Rowe (Albert), Thomas (Ruby), Edith York (John), Christine Anderson (Berkley), Muriel Brazil (Leo), Linda Bellissimo, Frank Jr.; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and friends. Elizabeth lived most of her life in Chance Cove and loved to travel to Toronto and Fort McMurray to visit her family and friends. She was a caring and gentle person whose love for her family held no bounds. Elizabeth had a steadfast faith in God and strongly believed in the power of prayer. She was the youngest and the last of the children born to Thomas and Edith Peddle. Predeceased by her sisters, Dinah Courage, Providence Smith; brothers, William, James and Stanley Peddle; grandparents, Esau and Dinah Bryant and great-grandfather Rev. James Bryant. She will be resting at the Church of the Ascension, Chance Cove on Saturday, February 16th at 2:00 p.m. until time of funeral. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 17th at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at the Church of the Ascension Cemetery, Chance Cove. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Church of the Ascension Memorial Fund. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses, LPNs, sisters and staff at the St. Patrick’s Mercy Home (2nd) floor.
