Graham Bruce Phillips, 70, of Brooklyn, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 23, 1942, in Windsor Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Herbert and Vera (Harvey) Phillips. After his mother’s death in 1949, he then went to live with his late grandparents, Pop & Mom Phillips. Graham was a carpenter for over 30 years, and a member of the Carpenters Union Local No.83. Graham had many lifelong friends and family members who he loved to get together with and have a party. Graham and Shirley enjoyed going on day trips, especially the ones in the fall to New Hampshire to see the changing of the leaves and the White Mountains. Graham’s one special trip was taking the Alaska Cruise. He was a great outdoors man, love to fish in the spring and if mushrooms were out in the fall, he would pick every day and give them away to family and friends. After retirement, he especially enjoyed walking and keeping the environment clean by picking up recycles and telling the grandchildren just how much he made that day. $$$ Hey Tammy! He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Corrine (Brown) Phillips; his children and his 8 lovely grandchildren: son, Kevin Phillips (friend, Yvette), Three Mile Plains and his son, Anthony; son, Michael (Deanna) Phillips, Windsor and his children, McKenzie and Landon, also their children, Tyler, Connor and Kyle; daughter, Karen (Mark) McCarthy, Three Mile Plains and their children, Nicole and Brandon; brother, Richard (Heather) Phillips, Windsor; step-brothers, Frank (Diane) Phillips and David (Kathy) Phillips; step sisters, Barb (Bob) McInnis; Paulette Phillips (Sandy Frank); and Shelley (John) Mason; sister-in-law, Phyllis Phillips; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Herb and Vera (Harvey) Phillips; he was predeceased by his brother, Blaine Maurice Phillips (2012); step-mother, Pauline (Clark) Phillips. Visitation was 6:30 ~ 9 p.m. Saturday, February 16, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King Street, Windsor. In keeping with Graham’s wishes, there was a celebration of his life, in the Brooklyn Civic Centre, 995 Highway 215, Brooklyn, 2-4 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, with Interment to be held at a later date in the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Graham were requested to be made to the Palliative Care of Hants Community Hospital, 89 Payzant Drive, Windsor, NS ~ B0N 2T0 or to a charity of one’s choice.
