Born In: Neil's Harbour
Born: October 10th, 1920

Passed on: February 18th, 2013

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Nan, sister, aunt and friend on Feb.18, 2013, at the Highland Manor, where she had resided for the past three and one-half years.
Born in Neil’s Harbour, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Alice Maude (Fricker) Rideout.
Hattie was a life long member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Neil’s Harbour. Her children and grandchildren were her life, and she enjoyed telling anyone who would listen about her two newest great-great-grandchildren, Meghan and Jack. You could find her enjoying a good book or looking out over the water from her window at the Manor. She will be fondly remembered for her love of red jackets, soap, having her hair and nails done, listening to music, telling stories and having a good laugh.
Hattie was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Clayton, grandson, Roger Johnson, brothers, Cecil and Tim, sisters, Irene Clark and Mildred (Puddy) Seymour.
She is survived by her son, Ralph (Lil), Cold Water, Ont.; daughters, Leona (Jerry Johnson), Hamilton Ont., Barbara Ingraham, who she resided with before moving to the Manor, Neil’s Harbour, and Brenda Fricker (Everett), Smelt Brook; sisters, Ella Clark, North Sydney, and Gladys Foss, her roommate at the Manor. Also left behind are 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23 at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Neil’s Harbour, Rev. Gloria Fraser officiating. Reception will be held at Neil’s Harbour Fire Hall after the service.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Highland Manor for their wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
