It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Francis McIntyre on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at the Glace Bay Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Angus ‘Boss’ Wilson and Viola McIntyre.
William was a coal miner for over 30 years. He was an active member and officer of the Glace Bay Pensioners Club where he bartended and organized 45s games. He enjoyed playing pool and was a fan of horse racing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rita (Hannan); eight children, William (Kelly), Kenneth, Barbara (Ray) Hiscock, Donna MacDonald, Sheary (Don), Nancy (William) Rogers, Darryl (Leslie) and Chad; one sister, Sandra (Gerald) McNeil; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, William was predeceased by his grandchildren, Tanya McIntyre, Mark McIntyre and Matthew McIntyre.
There will be no visitation, by request. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral service celebrating William’s life will be held at Newsom United Church, Friday, March 1 at 2 p.m. The Rev Donald MacDonald will be presiding. Interment to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
