Howes – Mabel Jean Florence Howes (Nee Lynds) of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away on Saturday, March 9th, 2013 at the age of 82 years. Born April 29th, 1930 in the Blue Hills District to Jean and Archie Lynds, she was the eldest of 10 children. She attended Lake School for all her schooling. Mabel married Gerald on June 1st, 1962 and they moved to the Ranch at Old Wives in 1964, where she enjoyed many years of ranching. In 1998, they decided to retire and moved in to Moose Jaw. She will be remembered for the many birthday cakes she made for family and friends. She was a great community member always willing to make a pie or whatever food was required. She helped with many 4H events over the years. Mom loved working with her flowers in her yard and her chickens were always a great part of her life. She was always very proud of her family’s accomplishments and her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. She made many friends, young and old, wherever she went. Mabel was predeceased by her parents Jean and Archie Lynds; siblings Ron, Mary and Ken; Brothers in law Harris Howes, Arnold Field and Reg Sedman; Parents in law Garnet and Abbey Howes. Mabel is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gerald; Children Ronda (Doug) Thul and Bill (Lori) Howes; grandchildren: Tyson (Brooke) Thul, Tianna Thul, Karley and Shelby Howes; sisters Elaine, Alice and Bettijean; brothers Elwood, Melvin (Eleanor) and Vernon; brothers in law Barry (Barb) Howes and Duane Powell; sister in law Olga Howes; as well as many nieces, nephews and many many special friends. The Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, March 13th, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Glennys Grosenick will officiate and a private family interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery.
