It is with great sadness that we advise of Allen Lee Ackles’ sudden passing on March 7, 2013 in Edmonton, Alta. Born on Oct. 8, 1966, Allen grew up in Northport. Following high school, Allen attended the Nova Scotia Community College where he studied carpentry.
Son of Donna Marie (Ackles) Fraser (nee Rushton), Amherst and the late Lorne Charles Ackles, Allen is survived by his son, Michael Ackles (Jamie), Edmonton; his partner, Rhonda Dechant; his step-sons, Colby and Carter; and step-daughter, Shelby; all of Manning, Alta.; brothers, Brian (Tricia), Manitoba; and Barry (Karen), Amherst; sister, Kathy Arsenault, Edmonton; aunts Jeanette Jackson, Nova Scotia; and Audrey Murray, New Brunswick; many nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dogs, Chevy, Molly and Paris.
Allen owned his own business “Ackles Contracting” in the oilfield industry. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and going to his cabin just to get away. He loved music, especially Johnny Cash songs. Allen lived life to the fullest. A practical joker all of his life, he loved a good laugh and his laugh will be missed most dearly by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place in Alberta. A celebration of Allen’s life will be held in Northport at a later date (to be announced). In lieu of flowers, donations in Allen’s memory may be made to the Hillside Cemetery Company, 7313 Highway 366, Northport, N.S. BOL 1E0.
