August 27th, 1919 - March 18th, 2013
John's family wishes to announce his passing at Royal University Hospital at the age of 93 years. He is survived by four children, Dave (Peggy), Val (Ken), Sheila (Jack) and Bill; sisters-in-law, Gloria Bennetto (Norm), Judy Brodie (Bill); brother-in-law, John (Liz); five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as many good friends. John was born in Thirsk, Yorkshire, England in 1919 and came with his parents to his father's farm at Abbey, SK shortly after. He worked at various jobs before joining the Canadian Army during WWII, serving both in Canada and overseas. He was a lifetime member of the Canadian Legion. After the war he returned to Swift Current where he met and married the love of his life, June. He obtained a job there with the Saskatchewan Power Corporation and worked in various locations until his retirement in 1980. John and June moved to Grenfell in 1970 and Saskatoon in 2005. John was a hard working man who loved talking with everyone he met. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and telling stories. We will all miss him. John was cremated with interment and a graveside service for both John and June to follow at a later date in Swift Current.
