Passed peacefully away on March 21, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre, Greta Elizabeth Bates, aged 75 years. Greta was the devoted wife of the late Nathan Edmund Bates and daughter of the late Alec and Netha Vokey. Leaving to mourn her sons: John and wife Alexandra (Fekete) and Robert and wife Kelly (Howse); three loving grandchildren: Claire Elizabeth Bates, Edmund Anthony Bates and Arlo John Bates. Greta was loved and embraced by a wide circle of extended family, in particular her siblings: Roy (Vera) Vokey, Nelson (Shirley) Vokey, Marie Vokey (Eugene Osmond), Lorraine Dwyer and Keith Vokey; special cousins, Earl and Marie Dwyer and family; as well as nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends, too numerous to mention. Greta also shared a special bond with her fellow nurses from the Grace General Hospital, School of Nursing Class of 1963. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Sunday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Anglican Cathedral on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
